EdK is Ed Kane, a reading specialist and statistics teacher in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, United States, who once taught in a fascinating interdisciplinary projects-based middle school program, the Landis Valley Project, which incorporated the theme of Pennsylvania German culture and language and the resources of the Landis Valley Museum. We learned a lot, but also enjoyed watershed investigations, period drama skits, pulling flax and scutching it, cooking over an open hearth fire, learning the craft of broom making, playing town ball for phys ed, and holding classes in barns and even one-room schoolhouses. We had fun and learned a lot. We not only met the Belsnickel, but even invited him to a middle school assembly.

I have a background degree in English, a graduate degree in reading education, and additional studies in mathematics, statistics education, and accounting. I am interested in bicycling, hiking, astronomy, geography, literacy education, and mathematics education, and also engaged by traditional stories and ballads, history, language history, writing, watershed investigations, and educational applications of technology. My Wikipedia contributions, almost all in English, have usually related to the geographic, historic, and literary landscape of southeastern Pennsylvania (especially Philadelphia and Lancaster counties) and southwestern Puerto Rico (especially Guánica).
